We offer part-time hairdressing courses to help provide flexibility with current day living and the demands of London life. Please note: all courses are on a Monday only between 09:30 – 5:30 (we close for Bank Holidays and the Christmas Break)

Our variety of private hairdressing courses are designed for both beginners with no experience, those who wish to progress to advanced hairdressing; or anyone wishing to update new skills

Classes are held on a Monday where you will complete both theory and practical elements of hairdressing training; working on live models in our state-of-the-art salon based in Wimbledon. Alongside your Monday classes, you are also provided with hairdressing training elements to complete as part of your course. 

We offer both Full Courses for those who wish to master all the elements of the course to become a successful hairdresser and Bespoke Courses for those who may wish to master certain aspects of the craft, brush-up on cutting or colouring; or help fast-track you through your current hairdressing course if you are studying elsewhere but feel like you have fallen behind.

Full Courses

 

NVQ Level 2 Hairdressing

​

Qualification: Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing

Duration: 13 months

Assessment: Portfolio + online test + assessments on clients

Recognised salon industry standard

Investment: £4250; or £1000 deposit with10 monthly installments of £325

This is a perfect course for someone new to hairdressing. The NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing is a nationally recognised qualification designed for those who want to build a strong foundation in professional hairdressing skills.

​

This qualification focuses on developing the practical, technical and professional standards required to work successfully in a salon environment.

​

Throughout the course you will gain hands-on experience in cutting, colouring and styling hair while developing the client care and professional behaviours expected in the hairdressing industry. Learning takes place in a real salon environment with guidance from experienced educators and industry professionals.

​

This course is ideal for beginners starting their hairdressing career, career changers looking to retrain, or those who prefer a more traditional NVQ route into the industry.

This course is attached to the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing

During the course you will develop the skills required to:
 

• Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp

• Cut women’s hair using a variety of techniques

• Colour and lighten hair

• Style and finish hair

• Provide consultation and client care

• Maintain health, safety and professionalism in the salon
   

Students build a portfolio of evidence demonstrating their skills while completing practical assessments on clients.

Level 2 Diploma for Hair Professionals - Hairdressing (NEW)

Qualification: Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing

Duration: 16 months

Assessment: Portfolio + online test + assessments on clients

Investment: £5225; or £1000 deposit with13 monthly installments of £325

We are excited to offer the latest City & Guilds 7002 Level 2 Hairdressing qualification, which was previously only available through apprenticeships.

​

This course incorporates some Level 3 elements within the assessments, ensuring our students are even better prepared for the salon floor. Students will develop additional skills such as restyling and basic colour correction, helping them build greater confidence and versatility as they progress.

The course begins with the foundations of hairdressing, including shampooing, conditioning and styling. You will then progress to cutting and colouring workshops, where demonstrations from experienced educators are followed by practical sessions working on models.

Once a month you will attend dedicated theory classes and demonstrations designed to give you the knowledge and understanding required to become a successful hairdresser. Each week you will also work on live models, allowing you to practise your skills and complete assessments when you feel confident and ready.

Your course will consist of the following units:

• Consultation

• Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp

• Cut hair using a range of techniques to create a variety of looks

• Style and finish hair using a range of techniques to create a variety of look

• Colour and lighten hair using a range of techniques and basic colour correction

• Perming hair

 

Which Level 2 Hairdressing Course Is Right for You?

At the Academy we offer two different Level 2 hairdressing pathways, both leading to a recognised professional qualification and designed to prepare you for work in the salon industry.

​

Hair Professionals Level 2 

Originally developed for apprentices and focuses heavily on preparing students for real salon work.

The course includes additional assessment elements such as restyling and basic colour correction, helping students develop more advanced practical skills and confidence behind the chair.

​

This course may suit you if you:

• Want a more in-depth training programme

• Would like extra time to develop your skills and confidence

• Want exposure to some Level 3 level techniques earlier in your training
   

NVQ Level 2 Hairdressing 

This course focuses on developing the core practical skills required to begin working in a salon, including cutting, colouring, styling and client care.

Students complete practical assessments on models while building a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate their competence.

This course may suit you if you:

• Want a slightly faster route into the industry

• Prefer a traditional NVQ training pathway

• Want to focus on core hairdressing skills

NVQ Level 3 Hairdressing

 

The perfect course designed for those who have already achieved a level 2 qualification in hairdressing; or have several year’s experiences of working in a salon and can already complete basic cuts, colours and styling work.

 

This course takes you to the next level, allowing you to develop your skills into restyles, creative colour, colour correction, and creative styling.

This course is attached to the NVQ level 3 in Hairdressing

 

Your course will consist of the following units:

​

• Creatively style and dress hair

• Creatively cut hair using a combination of techniques

• Creatively colour and lighten hair

• Provide client consultation services of look

• Cut men’s hair using basic techniques

• Hair colour correction services

Investment - £4250; or £1000 deposit with10 monthly instalments of £325

 

Bespoke Course

Interested in mastering the art of cutting? Would you like to learn how to colour the hair? Or, are you already hairdressing and wishing to update your skills? Are you working in a college and need to update your CPD skills?

 

If you answered yes, then our bespoke courses are a perfect choice. We can provide tailored training based on your training needs.

 

Our bespoke courses are based on the following timeframes:

Bespoke hairdressing – 3 months investment of £1,200 (3 x £400)
Bespoke hairdressing – 6 months investment of £1,800 (6 x 300)
Bespoke hairdressing – 9 months investment of £2,475 (9 x £275)
